Vila Cembra in Vatra Dornei

Before 1890, the site of what is now Vila Cembra was home to Hanul Petru Rareș, one of the most renowned inns in the Vatra Dornei region. The inn played a crucial role in accommodating travelers, merchants, and locals alike, serving as a central hub for trade and social gatherings. However, with the development of restaurants and guesthouses in the area, its significance gradually declined. Despite its remarkable architectural style, the main building and its annexes—once used as stables and carriage parking—fell into disrepair. … Continue readingVila Cembra in Vatra Dornei

Banloc-Goodrich Building

In the late 1930s, the world’s oldest tire manufacturing trust, founded in 1870 by Dr. Benjamin Franklin Goodrich, entered into an important partnership with Elisabeta, Princess of Romania and former Queen of Greece, to establish a tire factory in Romania. This partnership led to the development of the successful Banloc-Goodrich industrial unit, which played a key role in training Romanian specialists in tire production. In 1938, to support the growth of the factory, architect Octav Doicescu designed a complex of buildings for offices, workshops, and workers’ housing. … Continue readingBanloc-Goodrich Building

… Continue readingMasoneria operativă din Biertan
